In his Smokehouse checking the cure of the meats and began to understand the Smokehouse curing process. Basically, hickory wood was slow burned by adding moisture to the wood creating more smoke than fire. This process created droplets of liquid smoke on the meat, which flavored the meat as well as preserved it. Hence, Hickory Liquid Smoke was discovered. He then took this liquid smoke and mixed it with other ingredients to apply on the meat to acquire the same end result as the Smokehouse in just a fraction of the time.

In 1904, he took this concept and started manufacturing meat-curing products that enabled farmers to make a notable saving in both time and money, and thus, The Figaro Company was born. At that time, these products were a revolution to the industry outdating the use of the Smokehouse. As home cured meats began to decline, he used the same innovation that revolutionized the meat curing process to create that smoke flavor at home in the kitchen. It is what we know today as Figaro Hickory Liquid Smoke.

Figaro will be innovative in your kitchen in 2009.

  FIGARO FABULOSA QUICK FAJITAS MARINADE
This is my favorite fajita marinade and I've been using it for many years. Although the carbs are minimal, there is a little sugar in it. One of these days I'll try to make a copycat version using water, vinegar, liquid smoke, Splenda, lime juice and garlic. one or two batches of fajitas depending on how much meat you're making. It's good with beef and chicken, but I prefer chicken fajitas.

Ingredients: water, vinegar, liquid smoke, hydrolyzed soy protein, sugar, natural citrus flavor, caramel color, garlic, spices, herbs

1 Tablespoon = 0 carbs
